How We Select HeartCanvas Artists

At HeartCanvas, we work with a carefully curated group of artists who can translate human emotion into meaningful visual art. Our selection process is designed to be respectful of your time while ensuring the highest emotional and creative standards for our clients.

This is not a crowdsourced marketplace. Every artist is reviewed individually.

  • The Application Test

    To join our artist roster, we ask applicants to complete two short interpretation exercises:

    1. Personal Prompt

    “I want to thank my mother for always believing in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself.”

    2. Corporate Prompt

    “We are grateful for the work you have put in over the years and the contributions you have made. We want to acknowledge your talent and success. Thank you for being here.”

  • Submission Guidelines

    • Create a rough sketch or concept painting (not a finished piece)
    • Include a 2–3 sentence explanation of your artistic choices
    • Submit within 5 days
    • Watermarking is permitted
    • Minimum resolution: 3000px on the longest side

    The goal is not polish, but emotional interpretation.

  • What We Evaluate

    Each submission is reviewed using the same criteria:

    1. Emotional Clarity
      Does the artwork clearly convey gratitude, love, or appreciation?
    2. Symbolism
      Do visual elements support and reinforce the message?
    3. Composition
      Is the emotional story intentional and easy to read?
    4. Technical Quality
      Is the image well-composed, properly lit, and high-resolution?
    5. Timeliness
      Was the submission delivered within the stated timeframe?

  • If You’re Approved

    Artists who pass the trial receive a structured onboarding packet, including:

    • HeartCanvas Approved Emotional Artist badge
    • Artist agreement and contract
    • Compliance and content guidelines
    • Fee schedule (based on artwork size)
    • Shipping and packaging requirements
    • Artist profile setup (style, preferred media, themes, background, recognitions)
    • Policies (including our no-hate / no-political-content standards)
    • Optional participation in nonprofit and volunteer initiatives

    (These may lead to increased visibility and future commissions.)

  • Artist Responsibilities

    Once accepted, HeartCanvas artists are expected to:

    • Begin work within 48 hours of assignment
    • Submit an initial sketch within 3 business days
    • Complete final artwork within 3–5 business days
    • Maintain a minimum 4.5 / 5 customer rating
    • Adhere to all HeartCanvas quality, ethics, and compliance standards

    These expectations help us protect quality while respecting your time and craft.
